I'm one of those romantic fools in love, but I can't help it! You will have to forgive me, I have a tendency to ramble a bit. I met the love of my life, on December 31, 1997. It was in San Jose, CA. My mom and dad were throwing a party for their friends. I had gone home for the weekend to get away from the stress of work and travel. My mama had been asking me for months to go out on a date with her best friends son-who was in the Navy stationed in Lemoore, CA. I had moved from San Diego to Hanford, CA after my divorce (to take a job). Mama knew that I had been badly burned by my ex-husband, who was also in the Navy. I didn't want anything to do with military men. I had gone home for the weekend, because my parents were having a small get together with friends for the New Year. I always go home for the holidays, because I love my mama's cooking! It was in the evening, several hours before midnight, when I saw the most good looking man I had ever seen in my entire life. My mama saw how I stared at the man who walked in, and she whispered in my ear, 'That's Maria's son.' Lord have mercy was my heart going haywire! Mama introduced me to my husband, and I was mesmerised. He was tall, medium complected, brown hair, and inky black eyes. We talked for hours that night. He asked me for my phone number, and If I would be willing to meet up for coffee the following saturday. I said sure. We spent hours that saturday just talking. Suffice it to say that we were never at a loss for words. He left in late January for a 6 month deployment. During those 6 months I got to 'know' him on a better level. We wrote emails nearly every day, and I sent him a lot of care packages. He came home in late June of 1998, and he said it was time to go out on a real date. I finally agreed to go out on a first 'real' date with him. Our first date was on my birthday 26th birthday (July 21, 1998). We went to a really nice restaurant in Hanford. It was really nice to be able to relax with someone, who wasn't a complete stranger. In May of 2000, my husband asked my dad for his permission to marry me. It was on my 28th birthday (July 21, 2000) that my husband asked me to marry him. I was SHOCKED! I wasn't expecting to get engaged on my birthday. Our wedding took place on 3/17/01. We've been married for 10 very happy years, and we have 3 beautiful children. Well that's how I met the love of my life. Now tell me how did you meet the love of your life? I can't wait to see/hear your stories.... Read More »
